Obituary

With heartfelt gratitude for a life devoted to faith, family, education, and service, we celebrate the life of Deacon Albert Williams, who peacefully entered eternal rest on July 2nd, 2026, at the age of 79.

Deacon Williams was born on January 31st, 1947, in Macon, Mississippi, to the late O.C. and Viola Williams. Raised with strong Christian values and a deep appreciation for learning, he developed a passion for helping others that would shape the course of his life.

Deacon Williams graduated from B.F. Liddell High School in 1964 before earning a bachelor’s degree in Education from Mississippi Valley State University in 1969. During his undergraduate years, he became a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. He continued his education at Mississippi State University, where he earned a master’s degree in Political Science and completed doctoral coursework in Educational Leadership. He later became a devoted member of Masonic Caretaker Lodge #041.

Throughout his distinguished career, Deacon Williams faithfully served as a teacher, principal, and superintendent, dedicating 28 years to the Noxubee County School District and an additional five years to the Oktibbeha County School District. He also served on the Noxubee County School Board for 15+ years. His unwavering commitment to education reflected his lifelong dedication to shaping young minds, uplifting students, and strengthening public education throughout the communities he served.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Deacon Williams was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather , secretary and deacon at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, and trusted friend. His steady presence touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Rodney and Reginald Williams; seven brothers , Charlie, Bob, Levester, Johnnie B, LC, Otis, and James Williams; and two sisters, Annie Laura Owens, and Mary Sealy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 57 years, Velma Williams; his youngest son, Albert Williams Jr. (Vontrece) of Jacksonville, FL; his six grandchildren, Amber, Taylor (William), Ranauna, Rodney Jr. , Albert III, Reagan; his great grandchildren, Raelynn and Raiden; his siblings, Melissa Dennis of Macon, MS , Earnestine Johnson of Cleveland,OH , Alma Cotton (twin sister) of Macon, MS, Dorris McRae (Gary) of Hampton, VA, Mildred Lawson of Hampton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
