Obituary

Our Sister, Altarea “Reecee” Tippett, age 74, passed away on May 9, 2026 after an extensive battle with lung cancer.

She was born on May 29, 1951. She was raised by our grandparents, Homer and Josie Walker, in Noxubee County, Mashulaville, MS.

Reecee had an infectious laugh that brought light into every room she entered.

She had a big, generous heart, and was known for her incredible kindness. For over a decade, she selflessly assumed the responsibility as the sole caregiver for our grandma Josie until her passing in December of 2018.

Her cooking skills were unmatched, probably even by world renowned chefs. Everybody always ate whenever Reecee cooked something.

She also had a knack for tinkering with electronics. Although she never received any technical training, she could figure out how to get the clothing iron or the TV working again without having to send them to the repair shop.

Her compassionate spirit was an unshakeable constant in our lives, and her legacy of kindness will be forever missed by all of us.

She is survived by her siblings, Larry Cotton, Gregory Collins, Eric Collins, Timothy Collins and Audrey Keaton.

There are too many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws to list, but there was a mutual affection shared by all who knew her.

sister, May you rest in peace.
