Brown
Apr 10, 1958 — Aug 20, 2026
Columbus, MS
Keith Brown, a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, dear brother, masterful guitarist, and loyal friend, recently departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of music, love, and unwavering dedication. Born on April 10, 1958, in Columbus, MS, to Willie Love and Hattie Brown Halbert, Keith's journey was a testament to his passion and his profound impact on those around him.
Keith's deep affection for music was evident from his earliest days, even playfully practicing with shoestrings. This nascent talent blossomed into a lifelong pursuit when he joined the school band, a path that led him to graduate from Caldwell High School in 1976. His musical prowess grew exponentially, gracing numerous stages and ensembles. For eight years, he lent his remarkable guitar skills to the renowned Mississippi Mass Choir, and also captivated audiences with the Conspiracy Band and Rising Stars. Over the years, he became a familiar and cherished presence in local residences as part of the "House Band" and shared his gift within the spiritual sanctuaries of United Christian Baptist Church and Piney Grove M.B. Church.
A man of diligent work ethic, Keith also contributed his time working the night shift at Winn Dixie, always balancing his responsibilities with his profound love for his craft.
On November 20, 1990, Keith found the rhythm to his life's melody when he married his soulmate, Margie. Together, they formed "Keith and Margie," a musical duo that enchanted audiences across the Southern States. Their harmonious talents brought joy to countless weddings, family reunions, birthdays, and all manner of celebrations. Keith's legendary skill on the guitar was unmatched, famously playing the instrument with it on his back and knees, a testament to his extraordinary artistry and connection to his music. Though his health began to decline in 2019, his spirit and love for music remained vibrant and unyielding.
So significant was Keith's contribution to his community and the world of music that he was honored in his hometown of Columbus, MS, with a dedicated marker at Catfish Alley, a lasting tribute to his service and dedication.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Love and Hattie Brown Halbert; two brothers, Alvin Love and Leo Love; his loving mother and father in-law William Taylor Sr. and Johnny B. Taylor and one brother-in-law, Gene Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Margie Brown of Columbus, MS; his devoted children, Erica Deloach of Birmingham, AL, Jennifer (Carlos) Deloach Crusoe of Gulfport, MS and Terrance Moody of Kileen, TX; his beloved siblings, Sandra (Frank) Merchant of Anchorage, AK, Willie (Beverly) Love, Jr. of Swansea, IL, Alma Johnson, Erma Brown, Angela Love, and Chris Love, all of Columbus, MS and Joyce (Johnny) Smith and Annette (Jackie) Davis. He also leaves his cherished in-laws, Mary (Rev. Lionel, Sr.) Hampton and William (Mattie) Taylor, Jr.; his adored grandchild, Taylor Marie Hopgood; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who were touched by his generous spirit and musical genius.
Keith Brown's life was a beautiful symphony, played with skill, passion, and an open heart. His melodies will echo in the memories of all who knew him, a timeless testament to a life well-lived and a legacy that will forever resonate.
