April Mae Hendricks was born in Monroe County, MS, on April 15, 1973, and was raised in the Prairie Community. From a young age, she demonstrated a compassionate spirit, loving to care for the elderly. She accepted Christ at the age of nine and was baptized at Baptist Grove Church, where she found joy in attending and serving her church community.
In her journey through life, April moved to Columbus, where she became a beloved member of her community. She worked diligently at several local businesses, including The Palmer Home, Chevron, and most recently as a shift leader at McDonald's. Her friendly demeanor and dedication made her a cherished colleague and friend to many.
April was known for her vibrant personality, her love of fashion, her passion for cooking, and her beautiful voice singing gospel music. Above all, she treasured her family and the memories they shared. She married Darren Hendricks in 2013, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless moments for over 29 years.
April Mae Hendricks, affectionately known as "Abby," transitioned peacefully on May 29, 2025, in Baldwyn, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Tony Strong, and her beloved daughter,
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Darren Hendricks; her children, Courtney (Porscha) Parson, Marcus Parson, Raven Parson, and Darreana Hendricks; her three sisters, Vanessa (Charles) Williams, Virginia (Marlon) Spencer, Odessa Vasser; and her brother, James (Maggie) Parson; her seven grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
April's legacy of kindness, faith, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her spirit will continue to inspire and her memory will be a guiding light for all who knew her.
Rest in peace, April Mae Hendricks. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
