Benny Baptist was born May 8, 1960 in Oktibbeha County, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Baptist and Beatrice Baptist.

Benny departed from this life on September 25, 2022 at his home.

He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined St. Matthews M.B. Church. He attended Oakland M.B. Church until his passing.

Benny was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Tate Baptist, four brothers, Larry Baptist, Walter Baptist, George Henley, and Willie Baptist.

Benny leaves to cherish memories:  two daughters,  Lashanda Tate of Columbus, MS and Jacqueline Tate of Starkville, MS; three grand- children, Tyra Tate, Dervin Tate and Bryson Poe all of Columbus, MS; seven brothers, Carl (Kizzy) Baptist, Jefferson (Sally) Baptist, Lamar Samuels, Terry Baptist, and Michael Baptist all of Crawford, MS, Neal (Lorrain) Samuels of Kankakee, Il, O.C. Henley of Columbus, MS; seven sisters, Annie (Henry) Clayborn, Mary (Leonard) Bradford both of Starkville, MS, Shirley (Willie) Morton, Michelle Adams and Sadie Baptist all of Columbus MS, Faye (Willie) Scott of St. Paul, MN and Linda  (Dedrick) Underwood of Hoover, AL.  He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
