Bernard Carl Petty was born January 25, 1953, to the late Roy Lee (Gus) and Vera Hudgins Petty. He departed this life on March 24, 2025. He was a faithful member of All Nation Ministries of Columbus, MS where he served the Lord. He was married to the late Charlotte A. (Jones) Petty and to this union two daughters were born.
Bernard Petty, also known as (Bunny) worked at United Technologies for over ten years. Afterwards, he started his own lawn service/construction business. He called himself a seamstress. His clothes would always be starched and ironed with a crease in his jeans and boots everywhere he went. He was a hard worker and always helping others. He will be missed by his family, church family and close friends in the community.
He is preceded in death by four sisters, Pearlie Latham, Hazel Gladden, Maggie Ruth Ussery, and Georgia Mae Stinson; nine brothers: Bobby Lee Petty, Edward Ray Petty, Roger Dale Petty, James Petty, Levon Petty, Billy Petty, Joe Petty, Terry Petty, and Ricky Petty.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters: Deyae (Michael) Goodding of Memphis, TN and Raeva (Kendris) Brown of Sulligent, AL; five grandchildren, Kineshia Stewart, Ahymia Freeman, DeArron Freeman, Andra Williams, Lejand Brown; one great-granddaughter, Trinity Freeman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
