Obituary

Bertis Alvin Harris, 77, of Columbus, MS, went to be with the Lord peacefully had his home.

Al was born August 5, 1947 to the late Raymond and Mattie Lou Yarbar Harris in Amory, MS. Al was a 1965 graduate of West Point High School.

Al Marries Dorothy on November 15, 1974 and they celebrated 40 years of marriage. He was also a member of the 7th Street Church of Christ.

Al worked for the office supply and became the supervisor of the printing department, he was an over the road truck driver for 20 years, and ended his working career at the Columbus Fire Extinguisher Company.

Al carried many titles, friends, husband, dad, brother, papaw, uncle and even Red Pepper, which is what he was known by friends and coworkers when driving trucks.

Al had a lifelong hobby of fishing, watching old westers and a very sweet tooth. he had a loving commitment to his family and he was always a wonderful provider.

Along with his parents, Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy, 4 children, Sheila, Kevin, David and Robin. He is also reunited with his 2 sisters, Dot Hannah and Shirley Burges and his brother Carl Harris.

Al is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Scotty) Scott, Lisa Dunlap, Tabitha (Richard) Lee and Tanya Talley and an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren.

The family appreciates your respect but had decided to celebrate his life privately.

Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Harris' nephews who he had a special bond with, Wayne Hannah, Stephen Harris, James Melcher, and Doug Hannah.

Memorials to be made to the American Brain Foundation by donating online or mail to 201 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis, MS 55415. This is near and dear to the family's heart as Mr. Harris Suffered 3 strokes and was diagnosed with dementia before he left his earthly body and met the ultimate healer, our Lord and Saviour!
