Mrs. Betty Ann Colebrook was born on May 3, 1954, to the late Tony James Matthews and Nellie Jethrow. At the tender age of four, Betty experienced the heartbreaking loss of her mother. She was then lovingly raised by her aunt, Annie Lee Gunter, who became a steady source of comfort, strength, and wisdom throughout her life. As a little girl, she was known for her gentle spirit, thoughtful nature, and a quiet strength that would later define the way she loved, led, and lived.

During this time, she nurtured cakes and creations started her cake business, CJ's Bakery. Her love of flowers and nature also led her to become a Master Gardener earning numerous awards and achieving her horticulture certification.

She later rejoined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Stanley McCrary. Throughout her life, she was a generous, loving, and caring woman.
