Betty Jean Jones entered this world on January 9, 1944, in Artesia, MS to the parents of O.D. Williams and Mary Lee Ross. She was reared in the Sessum area of Oktibbeha County and later moved to the city of Columbus where she made it her home. Betty accepted Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of Canaan M.B. Church. She was employed for numerous years with Humboldt Manufacturing and Maxiim Medical as a seamstress.

Betty not only loved her church and singing but she would always sing around the home. She was truly a woman full of life that enjoyed spending time with her friends, traveling, cooking, and spoiling her children and grandchildren.

Betty departed this life on February 4, 2024, in Columbus, MS. She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Sammie Williams, John D. Williams, James E. Williams, Bobby Williams, Nathaniel Williams, and Arthur Williams; and her son-in-law, Johnnie Miller, Jr.

Betty's memories will forever be cherished by her children: Vickie (Barry) Harcrow, Teresa Jones-Stephens, Carolyn Miller, and Vinson (Tamika) Jones; her siblings: Laura (Larry) Hopkins, Susie Williams, Mattie Pearl (Reggie)Williams Allen, Patricia Williams, Otis (Brenda)Williams, Tommie Lee(Gloria)Williams, Lewis(Vicky) Williams, Leon Williams, Eddie James (Delois) Williams, Freddie B. Williams, Diana Williams, Teri Gay White, Willie Mae (Tommie) Frazier, Fernandez Williams, Lucious Williams, Bobby (Luvenia) Hill; her sister-in-law, Maggie T. Williams; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
