Betty W. Kidd, born on December 15, 1947, to Nathaniel and Willie Lee Baker in Columbus, MS, passed away on September 14, 2025. A cherished member of her community, Betty was known for her love of cooking and shopping, bringing joy and warmth to those around her through her culinary talents and generous spirit.
Betty was a devoted member of Bethlehem M.B. Church in Caledonia, MS, where she found strength and fellowship among her church family. She received her high school diploma, demonstrating her commitment to education and personal growth. Throughout her career, she was employed with Home Place and Morrison, where she was respected for her hard work and dedication.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Willie Lee Baker. Betty is also mourned by her brothers: Nathaniel Baker Jr., George Baker, John Baker, and Willie Baker, as well as her sister, Dorothy Williams.
Betty leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memories: She is survived by her husband, Woodie Kidd, of Caledonia, MS; her children, Charleen Ausby, Carolyn Ausby, Marcellus (Nakinya) Ausby, Lakeisha (Cedric) Maycock, Renee Kidd, and Lamont Kidd. She is also survived by her siblings, Clara Bowser, Ruby Kidd, Elizabeth Baker, Mary D. Marchbank, and Tommy James (Geraldine) Gunter. Betty was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, De'Angilo, Caliuas, Sharntay, James, Brandy, Ashley, Brittani, Daryl, Legarious, Keandra, Marcellus, and Kalizsha, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Betty W. Kidd will be remembered for her loving nature, her passion for family, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
