Obituary

Betty Stewart Robinson was born on February 2, 1960, in Noxubee County, MS, the late Juanita Stewart Johnson and the late Alex Ivy. On November 29, 1986, Betty united in holy matrimony with O. L. Robinson, and together they had two children.

Betty confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Woodlawn C.M.E. Church, where she served diligently until her health began to fail in 2022. Throughout her tenure, she contributed as an Usher, Choir member, Lay member, Missionary (both local and district), and Stewardess.

Betty attended Noxubee County High School, Mary Holmes College, and Thee Jackson State University. She worked for the Noxubee County School District as a Computer Teacher and later for the Noxubee County Board of Supervisors, where she served in various roles including Deputy Assessor, Deputy Collector, Bookkeeper, Office Manager, and ultimately fulfilled her dream as Tax Collector/Assessor.

Over her adult life, Betty was an active member of the NAACP Noxubee County Chapter, Noxubee County Economic Development Authority, Mississippi Black Leadership Institute (Class of 2013), Noxubee General Hospital Board, and the Order of Eastern Star Starlight #037.

Betty took pride in serving the citizens of Noxubee County with a smile and helping others whenever she could, as long as her actions wouldn't land her in jail. She enjoyed traveling, working, advocating for others, serving her community, spending time with family and friends, visiting churches, spoiling her granddaughters, and simply gazing at her husband.

Betty entered eternal rest on August 11, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Maggie Lee Robinson; her brothers, Cleotha Stewart, Warren Johnson, and Willie James Stewart; her sisters, Lillie Ruth Stewart and Carrie Mae Johnson Outlaw; and her brothers-in-law, Walter James Dent and David Outlaw.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband, O.L. Robinson; her children, Monica (Tremond) Miller of Louisville and Mariel (Roniesha) Robinson of Starkville; her granddaughters, Tegan Yoreel, Truth Ysabel, Talia Yannel, and Olivia Sage Rochelle; her siblings, Henrietta (Jim) Key, Rosie Outlaw, and Henry Lee Stewart, all of Macon, MS, Harrison (Laura) Ivy of Columbus, MS, George (Mary) Ivy and Marilyn Spivey of Chicago, IL, and Jermone (Delorise) Ivy of Indianapolis, IN; her siblings-in-law, Willie James Outlaw, Lola Dent, and Angela Stewart of Macon, MS, Carrie Joiner and Sarah Robinson of Chicago, IL, Allen Robinson, Antonio (Rochelle) Robinson, Barbara Robinson of Atlanta, GA, and Remonia (Lisa) Hines of Crawford, MS; her goddaughter, Iesha (Devionne) Bailey of Starkville, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
