Obituary

Booker T. Dankins entered this life on September 6, 1936, in Aberdeen, MS to his parents: Obadiah and Lucille Dankins. Booker T. received his education in the Columbus City Schools, finishing at Union Academy. He relocated to New York in the late 1950's. He became the first black licensed truck driver in the city of New York. He served as a garbage truck driver for 43 years. He took great pride in his job as he drove a one-man truck.

Booker T. confessed Christ at a young age at Day's Chapel Holiness Church.  He later relocated back to Mississippi to be with family and friends.

Booker T. departed this life on September 16, 2023, in West Point, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughters: Andria Bernice Dankins and Marsha Powell; his brothers: Jimmy Lee Dankins, Orlanda Dankins, Leon Dumas, Walter Dumas, Jr.; his sisters: Bernice Dankins-Rice and Geneva Dukes.

Booker T. leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Claudia Dankins of Palm Bay, FL, Shelia Dankins of Fellsmere, FL, and Anthony Allen of Charlotte, FL; his grandchildren, Omar Powell     (1st born grandson), Shauna Dankins (1st born granddaughter), Sheena Ellis, Leon Ellis Jr., Whitney Tate, and Malcolm Dankins; his sisters, Ozzie Rhone, Lenora Johnson, and Daisy Thomas all of Columbus, MS; and a host other relatives and friends.
