Booker T.
Hill
January 13, 1947 – July 25, 2024
Rev. Hill was a talented man. His skillful hands not only helped him in the industry, but in
everyday life as a farmer, hunter and a fisherman (his 2 favorite hobbies) and as a carpenter. His land
provided quality vegetables to people all around the Golden Triangle Area, to
include across the state line into Alabama. He was well known for delicious Red
Tomatoes that only he could grow, and the neighbors, Mr. Shaw and Mr. Shepherd could
never figure out just how in the world, he was able to make those tomato stalks grow 6
ft tall in his tomato patch. That was between Rev. Hill and the Good Lord above. It was
always his one request to the Lord, to make him a "Feeder of the people of the land"
and that he was.
That also went for fishing, his other hobby. Every year in the Spring when the
Buffaloes would run over at the Buffalo Hole on Gardner Blvd. for 2 weeks, he could be
found right there daily racking them in. He would catch, clean, cut, deep freeze and sell
to neighbors and friends he knew, that were looking for Buffalo Fish to eat as well.
As a hunter, he had several hunting buddies from the neighborhood and
Baldor..The Bradleys, Mr. Shaw, Jr. Shepherd, Dave, Larry Manning, Cuzzin Oodie,
Cuzzin Issac, Uncle Bud, and a range of other family, friends and neighbors. If he came
with something or nothing, he was fine with it; shared what was caught, and always had
a funny story to tell behind it. That was Him. Friends and Family.
Rev. Hill accepted his ministry on 11 April 2010 and after having associated minister
under Rev. Jones, at EL Bethel, became a Pastor of Muldrow Baptist in Starkville, MS,
where he ministered for 10 plus years until COVID-19 pandemic.
Rev. Booker T. Hill transitioned to eternal life during the early evening of July 25, 2024 in
Columbus, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annie R. Hill; brothers:
Henry Hill Jr,. Earlie B. Hill, Eddie Hill, Jarvis Hill, Billie R. Hill & Edward J. Hill. Sister:
Beverly A. Hill; and brother in law; Joe Edwards, Charles Billups, Rev. Willie D. Billups &
and a sister in law Helen J. Billups.
Rev Hill's memories will forever be cherished by his children: Brenda A. Hill of
Columbus, MS, Stanley A. Hill of Northport, AL and Haquikah J. (Talmadge)
Hairston of Conyers, GA. His brothers; Henry L. Hill ( Diane) Lansing, MI, Rev. Sammie
E. (Debra) Hill, Tommie M. (Sandra) Hill of Columbus, MS and Michael Muhammad
of Memphis, TN; Sisters: Shirley Hill Edwards of Birmingham, AL and Mittie Mae Ford of
Columbus, MS. Sisters-in-law; Katherine Hill of Columbus, MS, Doreatha Hill of
Jonesboro, GA, Diane Hill of Columbus, WI. Five grandchildren: Carl, Tasha, Tyrus,
Xavier and Talmeesia and 4 great grandchildren with one on the way. And a host of
nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He will also be missed by his 2nd family, his late wife's family the Billups of whom he
was truly loved and adored by as well. And Rev. Hill loved them just the same if not
more.
Rev. Hill was a God Fearing Man of true love and compassion who was always saying
to "Keep God in the front of whatever you do" and "Don't worry, be happy".
