On May 20, 2026, Heaven gained a beautiful soul when Carol S. Edwards peacefully entered eternal rest at her home in Columbus, Mississippi. Born on November 10, 1956, in Crawford, Mississippi, Carol lived a life filled with love, strength, faith, and dedication to her family.

Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Will Shelton and Laura M. Shelton Fifer. She attended school in Noxubee County and later continued her education at MUW and Mississippi State University. She worked faithfully for over 20 years at United Technologies as a Line Technician, where her hardworking spirit and warm personality touched many lives.

More than anything, Carol loved her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, and a true friend to many. She found joy in reading her daily word and Bible, traveling, shopping, coloring, and listening to music — especially Chris Brown and Kenny G. Her heart especially lit up around children and her precious grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Carol leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with her devoted husband, Ernest Edwards Sr.; her children, Tamika L. Wynn (Mark), Ernest Edwards Jr. (Alesha R.), Nicholas L. Edwards, and Elliot D. Edwards. She also leaves to treasure her memories, her beloved grandchildren, Erika N. Edwards, Alayla E. Edwards, Mark A. Wynn Jr., Ernest Edwards III, and Taylor M. Wynn. She is also survived by her brothers, Will Shelton, Kenneth Shelton, and Richard Shelton (Evette); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Leroy Shelton and Eugene Shelton.

Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a life well lived and a woman well loved. Carol’s kindness, laughter, wisdom, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those blessed to know her. Her legacy will continue through every life she touched.
