Sis. Christine Hughes was born in Columbus, MS to Charlie and Ruby Hughes. She accepted Christ at an early age as her personal savior and was a lifelong member of Glenn Chapel C.M.E. Church.  She served faithfully as an usher and the culinary ministry. Sis. Hughes was also an honorary Emeritus. Christine was employed for many years with Commerce Cleaners until retirement.

Sis. Christine Hughes enjoyed family gatherings. Many gatherings took place at various restaurants sharing in much laughter and fellowship. She loved reading newspapers, watching the ID channel. She shared her love to family and friends through cooking. Her favorite items were: her white soup, pound cake, five-layer cake, and homemade dressing.

Sis. Christine Hughes departed this life on August 31, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital GT in Columbus, MS. She is preceded in death by: She was also preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Hughes; her sisters, Ruby Tucker, Jerrie Morris, Kam Johnson, and Debra Davis; her brother, Charlie Hughes, Jr.; sister-in-law, Cheyenne Hughes; brother-in-law, Troy Porter.

Christine's memories will forever be cherished by her children: Terry (Leslie) Hughes, Mona (Ronnie) Clayton, and Stephanie (Calvin) Edwards all of Columbus, MS; her siblings, 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Cathy (Cornell) Mitchell and Lisa Hughes both of Columbus, MS, Ellen Porter and Angelia (Tom) Cotton both of Atlanta, GA; her brothers, Malone Hughes of Madison, MS, Floyzell (Tavetia) Hughes of Columbus, MS, and Charles (Ladora) Hughes of Dallas, TX.
