Mr. Cleveland Smith was born June 21, 1959 in Columbus, MS to Ollie Mae Smith and Claude Albert Johnson.  He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Trinity CME Church where he served until her death. He attended the Columbus Public Schools. He retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad after 28 years of service.

Clete was preceded in death by, his parents, son Cleveland Smith, two brothers, Leroy Smith Barry Smith, and sister, Maxine Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memories to hold near to hearts his wife of 39 years Mary Smith; son, Marquette Summerville (Easha), and Daughters Mesha Sanders, and Sharina Smith all of Columbus; brothers, Pastor Allan Smith (Vicki) Columbus, MS, Larry (June) Newman Chicago IL, Kelvin (Faye) Smith, Gene Sherrod of Columbus MS, Marvin Johnson (Suyoung) Savannah GA, Sammy Johnson (Vicenta) of Plum Grove, TX, Danny Fenton of Chicago, IL; sisters, Lourine Smith of Columbus MS, Christine (Freddy B.) Tate of Brooksville MS; Angela (Gus) Dora, Lashelia (Michael) Harris all of Ridgeland MS; Jessie Taylor, Bernice (Isiah) Turner, William Taylor all of Columbus MS; Cynthia Martin, Tayana Regena Alford of Horn Lake, MS, Cynthia Newman (Charles) of Winona, MS, Brenda Small (Donald) of Grenada, MS; Shelia Middleton (Troy) of Greenville, MS, Regetta Taylor Valdosta, GA; his grandchildren Ashley Summerville, Corian Sanders, Khiley Dunn, Abbie Degraffenreid and Aiden Jones; two sisters- in-law, Rita Smith of  Chicago, IL and Michelle Smith of Columbus, MS He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
