Obituary

THE REWARD: Psalm 127: 3-4 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him. Mama Daisy was born to the late James David O'Neal, Sr. and the late Bertha Ann Petty-O'Neal, on April 25, 1938, in Lowndes County. She was the knee baby of the group.

THE GIFT: 1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's Grace in its various forms. Mama Daisy was a very talented and gifted woman. She was a seamstress extraordinaire, following in the footsteps of her aunt, Fannie Bluitt. She made her girls' clothing all throughout their childhood life and made all of their wedding gowns, as well as other wedding parties. Alterations was a specialty that she performed for many people. She also was a great cook, especially preparing wildlife game that her husband would bring home from hunting. But most of all, she possessed the gift of silence, never having very much to say, but a whole lot to give. But when she did speak, it was with so much wisdom and knowledge. When she placed her hands on her hips, she was serious and meant business.

THE LOVE: Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. Mama Daisy was married to the late Oscar Longstreet. Oh, how she loved her husband, with all of her heart. The way she would speak of him, was as if he was still alive. He was the apple of her eye, the cream in her coffee, and the sugar in her tea. She was the best wife any man could ever have dreamed of. She loved and supported her husband 100%.

THE REBIRTH: John 3:3 " I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, no one can see the Kingdom of God." Mama Daisy expressed her love for Christ and was baptized under the leadership of the late Pastor W.M. Washington at Southside Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained faithful and lifelong member. She also had the privilege of being under the leadership of the late Pastor Isaac Lacy, Sr. and former Pastor Clinton McFarland and present Pastor Rayfield Evins.

The Servant: Psalm 84:10 "I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God than dwell in the tents of the wicked." As a lifelong member of Southside Missionary Baptist Church, she served as an usher until she could no longer stand. As a doorkeeper, she served with such spunk and vitality as she stood at the entrance door of the church faithfully.

The Labor: John 9:4 Jesus said "I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man work. " Aside from being an awesome seamstress, Mama labored in a domestic capacity for many families, especially the Yancy-Hitt family. She also worked for many years at the Mexican Kitchen.

The Transformation: I Corinthians 15:53 For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Mama Daisy transitioned from her life here on earth, as she was ushered into the Kingdom of God to be with her Lord and Savior on September 11, 2024, at her home. A wonderful life well lived.
