Obituary

Daisy Summerville was born in Columbus, MS to the union of the late Hence and Hannah Summerville on January 21, 1928. Daisy accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Brick M. B. Church.

Daisy enjoyed the simple things in life, such as traveling with her church, sitting on the porch on warm summer days, and talking to the people in the neighborhood as they went by. Daisy never met a stranger; she always had a smile on her face and a kind word for each person she met. Daisy loved the Lord, her entire family, her neighbors, and her church family unconditionally. She was the matriarch of the family, and she taught us that there is nothing more important than family. We find this concept to be a strong and true foundation. She lived those words, and they have become her legacy.

Daisy was employed by the late Attorney Douglas C. Stone and Mrs. Betty Stone for 57 years. She retired in August 2016 due to illness. The relationship evolved over the years from employee/employer, to friends, to family.

On January 11, 2017, Daisy's Sweet Spirit went to be with The Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Jenkins, Lizzie Williams, and Georgia Mckinley; brothers, Robert Summerville, Hence Summerville Jr., Willie Summerville and Jimmy Summerville; and grandchildren, Jimmy Summerville and Stacey Summerville-Petty.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Julia Summerville; one granddaughter, Vanessa (Howard) Summerville-Griffen; three grandsons, Victor (Katina) Summerville, Melvin Summerville and Frederick Summerville; and two sisters, Margaret Perry and Beulah Deloach. Daisy was blessed to have an extended family that included Mrs. Betty Stone, Mrs. Nora Frances Stone McRae, Mrs. Terrell Stone Rogers, and Mrs. Diana Stone Butgereit; 11 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
