Obituary

Daton Butler, affectionately known as "Rooster," was welcomed into this world by his parents, Ceabon and Mae Thelma Butler, on September 6, 1947, in Columbus, MS. He departed this life on June 26, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Daton's relationship with Christ began at an early age. He became a member of the Providence M.B. Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the church's male choir. He loved the house of God and offered outstanding service to it. His favorite statements were "Do you know who your Father is?" and "God is Able".

Daton represented a stable and respected fixture in his community. His work ethic was commendable.  He had a kind and giving heart, and he loved helping others. Professionally, Daton worked for over ten years for the Frisco Railroad and later for the Burlington Northern Railroad before pursuing his passion for auto repair. What began as a hobby fixing lawnmowers, turned into a love of fixing cars, which grew immensely.  He became a self-employed mechanic and proudly ran Butler's Garage where he was known for his skill and integrity.

A man of many passions, Rooster found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to have fun, often filling the room with laughter and stories. His favorite pastimes included watching classic westerns like "Gunsmoke" and martial arts movies, which brought him comfort and nostalgia. Daton was a respectful Christian, a family man, and a husband.

Daton is preceded in death by his parents: Ceabon Butler and Mae Thelma Butler; daughter, Monica Butler; son, Fredrick Butler; brothers, Willie C. Butler, Andrew Butler, Hardy Butler, James E. Butler; sister, Elsie Butler.

Daton leaves to cherish his precious memories: wife, Classie L.
