Deborah Ellis-Bishop transitioned to her heavenly home on April 10, 2026, at the age of 51.
Born on July 11, 1974, to Elbert Ellis Sr. and Geneva Ellis, Deborah lived a life defined by strength, unwavering love, and a quiet dedication to her family and community. She was a devoted wife, mother, and cherished friend whose presence brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her.
In 1997, Deborah was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Andrew Bishop Sr. Together, they built a life rooted in love and commitment, and were blessed with three children, Tiffany, Andrew, and Andrea, who were the immense pride and joy of her life.
Deborah was a proud alumna of Mississippi University for Women, where she earned both her Master's and Bachelor’s degrees. Her passion for helping others guided her to serve within the Columbus City School District. There, she touched the lives of countless students with her profound kindness and patience.
Beyond her professional life, Deborah found immense joy in cooking, shopping, and, above all, caring for her family and friends. These simple pleasures reflected her generous and loving nature.
Deborah was preceded in death by her father; sisters, Jeanette Clayborn, Bernice Ellis, and Barbara Ellis, Ellen Ellis and her brother, Elbert Ellis Jr.
She will be profoundly missed by her loving husband, Andrew Bishop Sr.; her devoted children, Tiffany Sturdivant, Andrew Bishop, Jr. and Andrea Bishop; her mother, Geneva Ellis; her sisters, Sallie Watt, Pricilla Hodges, Francy Thomas, Juanita Ellis, Lisa Baker and Tammy Samuel; her brothers, Henry Ellis and Isiah Ellis; and a host of nieces and nephews who will continue to cherish her memory
Above all, Deborah will be remembered for her incredible strength, her unwavering love for her family, and the remarkable way she made everyone feel seen and cared for. Her beautiful legacy will live on through the lives she impacted and the boundless love she gave so freely.
