Obituary

Ms. Deborah Ann Hairston was born on December 9, 1958, daughter to the late Earnest Jackson, Jr. and Margaret Hairston Smith. Ms. Hairston graduated from Motley High School in Columbus, MS. She was a part of the class of 1976. "Deb," as she was best known, gave her life to Jesus Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Charity Missionary Baptist Church in Crawford, MS. Soon after graduating, she relocated to Flint, Michigan where she got her first job at Arby's fast food restaurant. That is where she met Bernard "Killer" Jamison. On August 21, 1985, she gave birth to her one and only daughter, Kilnesha C. Jamison. Years after, she began working for Delco Plates, a parts plant through General Motors, until 2008. In 2009, she moved to Memphis, TN. In 2010, she began to work for DDN until her death. "Deb" enjoyed dressing up, even if it was only to clean her home. Being with family, dancing, singing, and having a good time is what she loved the most.

Ms. Deborah Ann Hairston (57) passed away after a well fought battle with lung cancer. She peacefully went to eternal rest at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, TN on October 26, 2016. She leaves to carry on her legacy: one daughter, Kilnesha Jamison; mother, Margaret Hairston Smith; stepfather, Sefoster Smith; three sisters, Delores Banks, Felicia (Lonnie) Brooks, Shameka (Albert) Jackson; five brothers, William (Patricia) Hopkins, DeWayne (Betty Jo) Jackson, Dennis Jackson, Maurice (Christy) Jackson, Marlowe Smith; two stepsisters, Sandra, Alverine; two stepbrothers, Shelton and Breale; three aunts, Lizzie Hairston, Harritte (N.F.) Od'neal, and Bernice Watson; three uncles, James (LaCreshia) Hairston, George Hairston, Jimmy (Nina) Hairston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives including special friends, Valarie Fair, David Lewis, Pamela Jamison, Lisha Williams, Cleo Jenkins, Tywan Banks, Traveon Howard and Myra Dawson. Truly, she will be missed, but her infectious smile and laugh will forever live on.

Ms. Hairston was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Jackson, Jr.; grandparents, James and Lover Hairston and Earnest Sr. and Ellie V. Jackson; aunts, Sadie Mims and Johnnie Od'neal; and special friend, Mr. Harry "Foots" Jamison III.
