Obituary

Easter Mary Bonner was born Easter Mary Saffore on April 8, 1955, in Columbus, MS, to the union of the late David and Adell Saffore.  Her parents died while she was young; therefore, she was adopted by Washington and Bessie Saffore.  She was the youngest daughter of David and Adell and the only daughter of Washington and Bessie.  She was joined in holy matrimony to Edward Pete Bonner of Columbus, MS on Sept. 2, 1978.  From this union, she was blessed with four daughters and three sons.

She was educated in the New Hope School District.  In 1974, she graduated from New Hope High School.  She then attended and graduated from East Mississippi Community College.  She was employed at United Technology, but she decided to leave there in 1993 to dedicate her time to being a wife and stay at home mother.

As a young lady, she attended Smith Chapel CME, and she later joined 15th Street Church of God in Christ in 1979. While a member, Easter was saved and sanctified under the leadership of the late Pastor Copprue. She exemplified the character of a virtuous woman (Proverbs 31:10-31).

Easter believed in serving others.  She served in the church as the church secretary, a mentor for Children of Praise, and a member of the hospitality committee. She was a sweet, giving woman who especially enjoyed making sure that others were well.  She believed that helping others was important so she would help feed the community throughout the year.  This came naturally to her because she was blessed with a tremendous culinary talent.  When she wasn't serving others, she could be found decorating and tending to her flowers.

She was a woman of faith, which sustained her as her health began to fail.  During this time, she was comforted and reassured by the Lord that He would never leave her nor forsake her.  He later showed her a vision that she would be healed, and He granted that with perfect healing.

Easter Bonner went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2023.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband of 45 years, Edward Pete Bonner; her children, Trina Williams of Mableton, GA; Jeremichael Bonner of Columbus, MS; Clarissia Finley of Kennesaw, GA; James Bonner of Anniston, AL; Sugar Grant Berry of Daphne, AL; Rachael Bonner of Baton Rouge, LA; and Timothy Bonner of Palmetto, GA; her dad, Washington Saffore and her siblings, Adline Hargrove, Johnny Saffore, Wilbert Thomas, Quinn Saffore, and David Lee Saffore; her grandchildren, Montrelli, Mordecai, Trinity, Kenadie, Morgan, Iyannah, Malayshia, and Bre'Shay; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
