Eddie Grace Westbrook James transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly reward on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on January 27, 1939, in Caledonia, Mississippi to Grady Westbrook, Sr. and Nellie Gray Westbrook-Lowe.
Eddie Grace was a dedicated member of the community, having lived her entire life in Caledonia. She was known for her career at Caledonia High School as a valuable member of the cafeteria staff, where she made a lasting impact on both the students and staff.
She was an active member of Military Chapel United Methodist Church where she served on the PPR Committee and as a Former Class Leader. She also devoted her time to Military United Methodist Women's Missionary, where she had a positive impact on the lives of others.
One of Eddie Grace's proudest accomplishments was teaching at HeadStart where she cultivated a lifelong love for learning. She was admired for her God-Given ability as she shared her knowledge with others.
In addition to her professional achievements, Eddie Grace was also a talented seamstress and had a green thumb, spending many hours tending to her beloved flowers. She found joy in creating beautiful garments and nurturing her garden. She worked diligently for Home Interiors for many years and was also an Avon Representative. She was also a loving, caring mother and grandmother, cherished by her family. Her presence brought warmth and comfort to those around her, and her wisdom was a source of inspiration and strength to all who knew her.
Eddie Grace is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roosevelt Westbrook, Clarence Westbrook, Fred Westbrook, Wilbert Westbrook and Eddie Lee Irions; grandson, Jonathan A. James.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her two children, Jonathan (Daphne) James, Jr of Caledonia MS and Marsha L. Elam of Columbus, MS; 4 Grandchildren, Jalen James Elam, Valandria James, Tashiana Onwenu, Tyler (Sanitria) Armistad; 9 Great-Grandchildren, 6 sisters, Mary (Eddie) Cunningham, Christine (George) Woodrick of Columbus, MS, Wilda Smith, Annie L. Moore, Rosa (Robert) Barnes all of Caledonia, MS, and Anna Gayle ( Raymond) Thomas of Atlanta, GA; 6 brothers, Willie C. ( Virginia) Westbrook of Caledonia, MS, Willie D. (Deanie) Westbrook of Fort Lauderdale, FL , Arthur L. (Faye) Westbrook, Grady Westbrook, Jr. both of Caledonia, MS, Roy Lowe of Atlanta, GA, and Odell (Patricia) Lowe Edwardsville, IL. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Eddie Grace James will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. Her memories will be treasured for her contributions, wisdom, and loving nature.
