Eddie James McClung, known to most as "Nick", of Brooksville, MS, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, in Macon, MS. He was born on May, 27, 1946, to the late Charlie McClung Sr. and Mariah Mattix McClung. Eddie James was the 5th child.
Later in life Eddie James McClung joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Mack Young.
Eddie worked at an early age as a Welder at Columbus Scrap Material where he developed a strong work ethic that carried throughout his life. He had a passion for antique cars and found great joy in spending time with his family and friends. Known for his great sense of humor and unique storytelling skills, Eddie brought laughter and warmth to all who knew him. His stories and infectious laughter will be deeply missed.
Eddie was preceded in death by his siblings Carrie McClung, Lawrence McClung, Charlie McClung Jr., and Robert McClung. He is survived by his siblings: Lillie Green of Chicago, IL, Willie Earl McClung of Brooksville, MS, and Barbara (John) Taylor of Memphis, TN. He also leaves behind extended family members, including his sister-in-law Mary (Robert) McClung of Hattiesburg, MS and Annie (Charlie) McClung of Brooksville, MS. Additionally, Eddie leaves behind 8 nieces (Dorothy, Rhonda, Tammy, Deantrice, Sherry Ann, Debra, Natasha and Latoya) 9 nephews (Robert, Adrian, David, Shone, Fredrick, Marco, Keith, Cortey and Torrey) and a host of great cousins and many dear friends who will cherish his memory.
Eddie will be remembered as a devoted family member, a man of humor and heart, and a friend who brought light into the lives of everyone he met. His legacy of laughter, love, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
