Elder Gilbert Butler, Jr., a beloved husband, father figure, and dedicated servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and commitment to his community. Born on January 22, 1937, in Columbus, Mississippi, to Rev. Gilbert Butler, Sr. and Evelyn Swope Butler, Gilbert's life was a testament to the power of faith and service.

A proud graduate of R.E. Hunt High School, Gilbert accepted Christ at an early age at Providence M.B. Church in Columbus, MS, where the seeds of his deep faith were sown. His journey took him to serve in the United States Army for two years, a period that instilled in him a sense of discipline and dedication that would carry throughout his life.

While residing in Sandusky, Ohio, Gilbert answered the call to ministry, embracing his role as a spiritual leader with grace and humility. He was married to his beloved wife Virginia Stewart Butler for 66 wonderful years, a partnership that exemplified love, support, and unwavering commitment.

Gilbert dedicated over 33 years of his professional life to Ford Motor Company in Lorain, Ohio, where he was known for his strong work ethic and camaraderie with his colleagues. He was also employed part-time at Minnifield Funeral Home and as a cab driver, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. After relocating back to Columbus, Mississippi, in the late 1990s, he continued to serve his community as a security guard.

A devoted member of Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C., Gilbert served as the assistant pastor for many years, where he touched countless lives with his wisdom, compassion, and unwavering faith. His commitment to his church and community was evident in all he did, and he inspired many to walk in faith and love.
