January 31, 1948 – April 25, 2025
Elder Ernest Prescott, 77, was called home to be with the Lord on April 25, 2025 at his residence in Columbus, MS with his wife and niece Kennika by his side.
Elder Prescott was born on January 31, 1948, in Pittsburgh, PA to Ernest Boyd and Rosea Mae Green Prescott. Ernest accepted Christ at an early age. He was ordained at King's Deliverance Holiness Church in 1981 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was apart of the Church of God in Christ in 1985 under the leadership of Bishop C.H. Mason in Michigan, Golden Leaf M.B. Church in 1993 under the leadership of Pastor Frederick L. Flowers of Flint, Michigan, New Zion Pilgrim under the leadership of Rev. Christopher Wriley, Sr. in 2009 in Columbus, MS. He later Pastored Halbert Mission M.B. Church in Ethelsville, AL.
Ernest graduated from Duquesne High School in Pittsburgh, PA. He continued his education by attending Carnegie-Mellon University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineer in 1977, he was awarded the U.S. Patent for "Laser Process" and invited by the American Welding Society to write a paper on "Selection of Welding Power." He later moved to Flint, MI. in 1984 and worked for General Motors as a Supervisor.
Ernest loved the challenges of computer games and to disassemble parts to see how they were made. He loved history, survival and cooking shows, he loved to fish, to read and write poetry in his spare time. Family was his everything, he enjoyed all the memories they and his friends created. Most of all, he loved spreading the gospel and he would always say "Ain't God Good".
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Benjamin H. Prescott, William A. Prescott, Aldonia Prescott-Ball and Anna Mae Prescott-Barlow.
Ernest leaves to cherish his memories to his wife, Gwendolyn Davis-Prescott of 35 years; 2 daughters, Ernestine (Carl DeWayne) Hinson of Louisville, KY, Denise Ann Prescott Stafford of Jacksonville, NC and 1 son, Ernest Prescott, Jr of Pittsburg, PA; 5 grandchildren, Calvon, Brytani Hinton, Emmit, John Stafford and Louque Prescott; his sister, Violet Prescott of Pittsburg, PA; his aunt, Geraldine Lee of Flint, MI and Mattie Harris of Albion, MI. and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends and family including Hedy Snelson.
