Obituary

Emma L. Brooks-Rockett was born on December 8, 1952, in Crawford, Mississippi. She departed this life peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN surrounded by family. Emma was born to the late John Brooks Sr. and the late Ora D. Brooks. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Greater Mt. Olive M.B. Church. Emma received her education at Caledonia High School where she received her high school diploma in 1970. Emma was employed with United Technology in Columbus, MS for over 20+ years.

Emma lived life to the fullest and brightened the day of every person she encountered with that one-of-a-kind smile and beautiful spirit. Emma had a strong love for her husband, kids, grandkids, brothers, and sisters. Emma was an excellent cook. She loved singing, playing the piano, helping others, and spending time talking on the phone with family.

Emma L. Brooks-Rockett was united in holy matrimony to Pastor Otha D. Rockett of Waterloo, Iowa in May of 1998 where they proceeded in marriage until death did them part on March 28, 2024.

Emma L. Brooks-Rockett was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

She leaves her memories to be cherished by her three children: Felisha Brooks of Waterloo, IA, Jackie Jones and Kevin Jones both of Columbus, MS, Six Brothers: J.D. Brooks( Annie) of Columbus, MS, John Allen Brooks of Columbus, MS, Joe Brooks(Mary) of Columbus, MS, John Brooks Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma, William Brooks( Linda) of Columbus, MS, Thomas Brooks(Lynnette) of Columbus, MS, Lula Brooks of Columbus, MS, and Cathy Harris(Perry) of Columbus, Ms. Ten grandchildren: Nautica, Nicholas, Nathan, Malaysia, McKenna, Malik, Mason, Kayla, Jeremiah, and Kamarion. Five stepchildren: Willie O. Rockett(Beverly), Debbie Anderson(Marcus), Katina Rockett, Christiana Allen(Antwoine) of Waterloo, Iowa, and Carletha (Fiance James Snow) of Kosciusko, Ms. Twelve step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved dearly.
