Emma Gean Sherrod was born November 20, 1939 in Noxubee County, Mississippi to  Fred Sherrod and Emma Sams Sherrod.

Emma was raised in Noxubee County but lived in Columbus, MS most of her adult life. She found Christ at an early age and HE was with her throughout her life. Emma worked at Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Company and Ramada Inn Hotel.  She took GREAT care of her children, grandchildren, family and friends.  She was always there if they needed her.

Emma was one of 13 children and a loving momma, sister, aunt and friend. She is preceded in death by her father, Fred Sherrod, her mother, Emma Sams Sherrod; brothers, James Sherrod Sr., Jessie Lee Sherrod; and four sisters, Freddie Mae Summerville, Rebecca Blevins, Rosie Lee Thomas, and Edith Sherrod; two grandsons, Lance Sherrod and Gene Sherrod, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her LOVING memories; six children, Larry (Tina) Sherrod, Gene Sherrod, Sr., Marilyn Sherrod, Debra Sherrod, Jerome (Tammy) Sherrod, all of Columbus, MS and  Anthony (Casonya) Sherrod of Tupelo, MS; five sisters, Molly Jenkins, Fannie Sherrod, Callie (Otis) Williams, Bettye (DC) Mitchell all of Columbus, MS and Susie (Eddie) Hendricks of Bridgeport, CT; one brother, Jimmy Lee Sherrod, of Columbus, MS; 20 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
