Obituary

….Weeping May Endure For a Night, but Joy Cometh in the Morning. Psalm 30:5

Emmitt Dooley was born April 25, 1955, in Brooksville, Mississippi (the youngest child) to the late Dillard Dooley and Henrietta (Brown) Daily-Dooley. He departed this life on September 8, 2026, at his residence in Brooksville Mississippi.

Emmitt was educated in the Noxubee County School System and graduated from Noxubee County high school. He furthered his education at Mississippi Valley State College in Itta Bena, Mississippi. After college he returned to Brooksville and reunited with the love of his life, Virginia Ellis where they married and three sons were born to this union; twins Derek & Eric, and Javar. He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age at Second Baptist M. B. Church where he faithfully served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer, Part-time Usher and in any capacity that was needed.

Emmitt was a lifelong learner; he was extremely smart and knowledgeable in the field of mechanics ... he could fix almost anything that was related to an automobile, not only could he fix it, he would do it without complaining ... he was just that helpful, he would help anyone who needed or asked for assistance. He was an Un-Paid Uber of Brooksville, if you needed a ride or needed him to drive you, he was more than willing to do so. He would never say no even if he didn't feel like doing it ... he always put others before himself. He was also a stickler for doing things his way, or the way he thought it should be and most of the time he was right. It was a joy to be in his presence, and you can be sure that he would always make you feel special. He also was a great caretaker, he assisted several of his church members, friends and family that was disabled or just needed help without complaining ... he was happy to do it. He felt like that was a calling on his life to help others.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Louise, Nezzie Mae, Willie Bell, Mevela, Lester B. and James Henry.

Emmitt leaves to cherish his memories: His loving wife of 48 years Virginia Dooley; Sons, Dempster "Deon" (Krasinda) Barton of Southaven, MS, Derek (Linda) Dooley of Columbus, MS, Eric (Shumeka) Dooley of Brooksville, MS, Javar Dooley (Shalonda) of Columbus, MS, Ethan Clay of Brooksville, MS; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two Sisters, Betty (Ernest) Brackett of Columbus, MS, Mary Alice Jones of Fort Washington, MD; seven sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
