Ernest Edward Martin departed this life on February 6, 2026, at his residence in Macon, MS. Born on February 16, 1960, in St. Louis, MO, to the late James C. and Ruth L. Martin, Ernest lived a life marked by faith, music, and dedicated craftsmanship.
From an early age, Ernest's life was rooted in faith, having been baptized as an infant and later becoming a cherished member of Springhill M.B. Church. He was a man of many talents and passions, but none shone brighter than his love for music. Since Junior High, Ernest found joy and expression through his guitar, creating melodies that surely touched the hearts of many.
Ernest was also known for his incredible work ethic and skilled hands. As a dedicated carpenter and roofer, he took immense pride in his craftsmanship, leaving behind a legacy of beautifully constructed works. He was a truly skilled man whose commitment to his work was admired by all who knew him.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Ruth L. Martin, and his two sisters, Charlotte Gilbert and Minerva Martin.
Ernest's memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Gloria Martin of Macon, MS, and his beloved children, Nissan Martin of Cleveland, OH, Keirra Davis of Columbus, MS, and Ernest Martin, Jr of Jackson, MS; 7 grandchildren; his loving siblings, Gary (Debra) Lasley Jonesbora, AR, James Martin, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Sandra Martin Moreno Valley, CA, Francile Martin Moreno Valley, CA, Karen Martin of St. Louis, MO, Patti Martin of Jonesboro, AR, Kevin (Portia) Martin of Benton, MS, and Lance (Joei) Martin of Humble, TX; along with a host of other relatives and friends who were blessed to know him.
Ernest Edward Martin will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his musical spirit, his diligent work, and the love he so freely gave. While his physical presence will be deeply missed, the harmony of his life and the warmth of his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
