Fannie
Mosley
October 1, 1940 – March 9, 2026
Mrs. Fannie Poe Mosley was called home to her eternal rest on March 9, 2026, after a life marked by faith, song, love, and the warm embrace of a kitchen that never failed to bring people together. Born on October 1, 1940, in Shuqualak, Mississippi to the late Phil Poe, Sr. and Mary Virgina Poe, Fannie grew up to become a cornerstone of her family. As the oldest daughter of 13 children, she helped to raise her younger sisters and brothers and cared for them like they were her own children.
Fannie was united in marriage to Eulee Mosley in 1959, her devoted husband and partner, who preceded her in death. Early on they were members of the St. Peter’s Methodist Church. Fannie and Eulee built a home filled with faith and the rich aromas of home cooking that their children and neighbors will never forget.
After Eulee’s death, Fannie became a faithful and active member of Calvary M.B. Church, where she served joyfully until her health no longer permitted. For many years, Fannie was a cherished voice in the Senior Choir and a devoted participant in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. She had a rare and beautiful gift — the lining of hymns — a sacred tradition she carried with reverence and grace that moved all who heard her. There were two choir solos she was especially known for (“When You Hear My Of My Homegoing” and “This Old Building Keeps On Leaning”). Her choir solos were a testament to a faith that ran deep, and those who worshipped alongside her knew that when Fannie sang, she was singing straight from the soul.
Beyond the church walls, Fannie was equally celebrated in the kitchen. She was renowned for her extraordinary cooking, and two of her creations held a place of legend in the hearts of her loved ones: her German Chocolate Cake, rich and perfectly layered, and her 7-Up Pound Cake, golden and tender in the way that only a well-loved recipe can be. To share a meal that Fannie prepared was to feel cared for in the deepest sense.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved children: Johnny C. Mosley of Shuqualak, MS, Joanne Scott (Danny) of Shuqualak, MS, Albert Mosley (Syreeta) of Ormond Beach, FL, and O.C. Mosley of Shuqualak, MS. She also leaves to cherish her memories her devoted brothers and sisters, David Poe of Cleveland, OH, Phil Poe, Jr. of Bettendorf, IA, Elizabeth P. Washington of Detroit, MI, Gladys P. Jenkins of Shuqualak, MS, and Lillian P. Reeves of Cleveland, OH. Her legacy is further carried on by a multitude of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew who were blessed to know her love firsthand.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Eulee Mosley and children, Josephine M. Robinson, Joe Nathan Mosley and Lamar Mosley; brothers and sisters preceding her in death were Jimmy Poe, Walter Poe, Aaron Poe, Andrew Poe, Allen Poe, Mildred P. Timmons, and Mary Frances P. Thompkins.
Fannie P. Mosley lived a life of quiet, abiding strength — the kind that holds families together across generations, that fills sanctuaries with music, and that lingers in the memory long after the table has been cleared. She was loved beyond measure and will be missed beyond words.
