Genet Sanders, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away on December 6, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. She was born on January 7, 1970, in Columbus, MS, to Robert Lee Martin and Louella Sanders, Genet was a lifelong resident of Columbus who cherished her community and neighbors.
Genet's vibrant spirit was evident from a young age. She attended Caldwell High School, where she excelled in track, basketball, and volleyball, showcasing not only her athletic talents but also her love for the game. Her passion and dedication on the field were matched by her warm and caring nature off the field.
A woman of deep faith, Genet found Christ early in life and confessed her faith in Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Bibleway Progressive Church of God in Christ, where her faith and gentle spirit touched many lives.
Genet lived life to the fullest, bringing joy, smiles, and love to everyone around her. She possessed a caring heart and a gentle spirit that made every moment memorable. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Louella Sanders; her grandmother, Cassie Sanders; and her nephew, Codey Sanders.
Genet leaves behind a loving legacy to her father, Robert Lee (Hattie) Martin; her children, Deandrea (Shonesty) Kyles, Jasmine Sanders, Carleeon Jones, and Deforest Kyles, Jr.; her siblings, Cassie Sanders, Rosie Sanders, James (Princella) Sanders, Carol (Derrick) Nash, Delois (Jack) Hendricks, Tavares Sanders, Cedrick Sanders, Phines Sanders; step-siblings, Farlisa Webber, Eric Willburn, Allen Willburn, Kelvin Willburn and Dector Willburn; 17 cherished grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Genet Sanders will be remembered for her loving heart, her joyful spirit, and the unwavering love she showed to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and community that will continue to inspire.
