Obituary

Deacon Edward George Latham was born on January 22, 1949 to the late Rufus Latham and Everlene Latham in Pickens County, Alabama. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized and joined Reform Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Reform, Alabama under the leadership of Elder Jessie Hutton. He served as a layman until he was ordained as a deacon. He served faithfully in the church until his transition from his earthly realm to his heavenly home on March 23, 2023 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital GT in Columbus, MS.

George attended school at the Pickens County Training Schools. He began his work at a steel plant in Birmingham, AL. He later relocated back home and began his own businesses in tree cutting and farming. He worked faithfully until his health began to decline.  He also enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Geroge was preceded in death by his sisters: Barlene Sherrod, Ruth Virginia Prude, Debra Latham, and Dora Dean Latham; his brothers, George Raymond Latham and Curly B. Latham.

George leve to cherish his memories: one daughter, Latosha Spraggins; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patty Jean Congress and Lovie Latham; uncle, Allen Hinton; aunt, Elizabeth Ferguson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
