Bruh" Roland
June 22, 1939 – October 25, 2025
Grant Roland, affectionately known as Lil Bro, was born on June 22, 1939, in Macon, Mississippi, to Jim and Adline Roland. He departed this life on October 25, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Grant dedicated many years to his work, retiring from Johnston Tombigbee Furniture and D.S. McClanhan. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures, whether it was immersing himself in a good book or collecting cans during his walks. His resourceful spirit and appreciation for the world around him were evident in everything he did.
He was a man of quiet strength, whose kindness and gentle demeanor touched the hearts of all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved siblings: Willie James Hopkins, Lillie Hooper, Martha J. Roland, Bessie Orr, Lillie Mae Roland, Ruby Taylor, and Lizzie L. Taylor, as well as his dear friend Rosie. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who loved them.
Grant leaves behind a loving family, including his son, Tommy Staples of Powder Springs, GA; his siblings, Carolyn Harris and Nelson Roland, both of Columbus, MS, and Mary Louise Roland of Manhattan, NY; two grandchildren, Tommy Staples, Jr. and Nadia Wyatt; two great-grandchildren; his step-son, Larry Deloach; his favorite auntie, Willie Mae Bradley; six nephews and six nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
