Obituary

Oh give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good, because his mercy endureth forever.( Psalms 107:1) We have come this day to celebrate the life of our beloved, Hattie B. Brown, known by most as "Baba" and affectionately known by her family as "Rabbit." Hattie was a vibrant woman, Aretha was her queen, Michael was her prince and China was her doll, loving sister, and she was great company to her relatives. She socialized with a select few, watched her soap operas & sitcoms, and had an amazing talent for completing puzzles. No matter what Earthly challenges that came her way, she conquered them all, large or small; that is, until GOD called her to her Heavenly home.

Hattie was born September 6, 1952 in Macon, MS to the late Howard Smith and Hattie B. Neal. She was the second child of seven children, and the first daughter of the family. She was preceded in death by her two sisters,, Essie Mae Neal & Bernice Smith-Jackson; one sister-in-law, Lillian Brown; three brothers, Terry Smith, Eddie Smith, Tony Smith. She leaves to cherish one daughter, Tammy China Taylor (Nick), her son that she reared, Paul; David Malone Jr. Two granddaughters, Kimberly Taylor and Khristy Taylor, a special grandson, Nickolas Taylor,  eight great-grandchildren, Renaldo Jr., Jordan Taylor, Kobe Taylor, Kylie Roby, Karter Taylor, Khloè Taylor, Ari Gillespie, Joshaun Taylor; four sisters; a special sister, Mary Ann Harris (Patrick), Sarah Pippin (Eddie) Bessie Glenn (Archie) Alberta Joiner; three brothers, James Brown (Lillian) Sylvester Smith Jimmy Lee Neal Jr., all of Macon, MS. As a child, she confessed hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of Zion Hill M.B. Church. Hattie graduated Noxubee County High School and assisted her mother with her siblings rearing them into the right directions of life. She then began her working career as a machine operator, specializing in sewing. She primarily worked at Nemanco for ten years, then later started at Cal-Jac for four years. She then tried something different working for Sanderson Plumming for two years; gradually,  she returned to being a machine operator working for American Power Source for three years where she then retired. After retirement, she never stopped her passion for sewing, she remained faithfully sewing for her family and friends until her health failed her.  Hattie was a  faithful sponsor to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

She enjoyed her life, and she loved her daughter (China) and her son that she reared (Nant) and her grandchildren, (Kim), (Cookie), and (Nick-Nick). Her eight great grandchildren filled her final years with joy their names are RJ, Jordan, Kobe, Kylie, Karter, Khloé, Ari, Joshaun.

Hattie had a special affection for her siblings which were, Otis, Ann, Sarah, Bessie, and Jimmy, Alberta and Sylvester. She also loved her aunts and uncles: Lizzie, Amanda, James (Annie Mat), John, Wiley.

Hattie held a special place in her heart for a host of nieces,  nephews, and relatives. Hattie was adored by many. We will truly miss her presence,  but will find comfort in the memories that we hold dear. For scripture says, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. This world was not her home, she was just passing by. Her hope and all her treasures, they are all laid up on high. Jesus promised her a place where there would be no illness, sorrow, or pain.
