Obituary

Henry Phillips was born January 12, 1946, in Artesia, MS to Matthew and Annie Mae Phillips. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended New Prospect M.B. Church.

While in Mississippi, Henry attended Mottley High School, and worked as a factory worker at Hooker Chemical Plant.  He was a deputy at the Lowndes County Sherrif Department. In his early to middle 30's, Henry moved to Muskegon Heights, Michigan, there he was employed at Stanley Motor Company. Henry remained in Michigan until his death. Although Henry moved, he would always adventure back to Mississippi, especially for the Fourth of July. That was the one holiday you could count on him to be home with family and friends.

When word got out that Henry was in town, you could find him in one of these places. His sister Lizzie's house, his sister Annie's house sitting on the porch, under the hood of a car, at the stove cooking one of his delicious meals, or on the carport grilling. Henry swore he could barbeque better than anybody in the United States. Ribs were one of his specialties. Henry was also a huge fan of wrestling, anytime it was on, he watched. He also "Played his numbers" daily, he just knew he would win the lottery one day. Henry was a member of a CB Club and his CB handle was "Steppin Wolf."

Welcoming Henry into Heaven, his parents, his sister, Lizzie, Annie, Minnie Phillips, his brother, George Phillips. His nieces, Connie Phillips-Shipwash and Barbara Phillips, his nephew, Darron Phillips and his grandson, Tae'Kion Reed.

Cherishing Memories of Henry forever, his son, Tarshon Phillips; grandkids, Tae'Kwon Reed, Tarshon Phillips, Jr.; nieces, JoAnn Brewer and Simona Phillips; Nephews, Ellis (Chrissy) Phillips, Anthony (Miranda) Phillips, Dwayne & Justin Phillips. Along with a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Henry also leaves behind several friends and family in Michigan, Frances, Pete, Aaron, Donwon and Hattie Will.
