Herbert C. Davis, known to family and friends as Herb, was born February 17, 1953, in Pickensville, Alabama, to Alcurtis Bush and Callie Mae Brewer. He passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at Vineyard Court in Columbus, Mississippi, at the age of 72.

Herb's early years were spent in Pickens County, Alabama, where he attended local schools. He began his working life at Columbus Marble Works in Columbus, Mississippi and later moved to Huntington Station, New York, where he continued his craft in a factory setting. He returned to Mississippi in the late 1990s, residing in Noxubee County before eventually settling in Columbus, MS.

A faithful member of Christian Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Herb enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—fishing and playing cards—with friends and family. His warm spirit and easy smile touched the lives of those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, including Johnnie Bertha Davis, Mary Jean Jamison, Arthur Bush, and Eugene Bush; among other loving family members.

(Johnnie) Bush, Amos Lyons, Fredrick(Frances) Bush (all of Columbus, MS), Alcurtis (Maggie) Bush (Tuscaloosa, AL), Sarah Bush (Biloxi, MS), Dianne Bush (Radcliff, KY), Chinelle Summerville (Memphis, TN), Keasha Bush (Newport News, VA); special friend, Lauriner Wright (New York); along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
