Hubert Scott, Jr. was born on July 8, 1940, in Columbus, MS to Bessie and Hubert Scott, Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Zion M.B. Church. Hubert was a lifelong resident of Columbus where he attended schools and worked. He was employed with Kerr-McGee for 43 years as a forklift driver until retirement. Hubert enjoyed grilling and repairing lawn mowers during his spare time. He also enjoyed fellowship with friends and family sitting outside his house. Hubert married Rosie Lee Jones on May 10, 1966 and they shared 57 years together. Their union was blessed with three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that they loved dearly.

Hubert departed this life on October 15, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters: Ora D. Scott-Deloach and Rosie Lagrone; six brothers: Larry Scott, Sammie Lee Scott, Charles Scott, Charles Scott, James Henry Scott, Mack Scott, and William Earl Scott; Brothers-in-law: Elbert Bryant, Joe L. Jones, and Willie Jones, Jr.; Sisters-In-Law: Earleen Scott, Florida Brown, and Mary Bennett.

Hubert leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Rosie Lee Scott of Columbus, MS; children, Susie Summerville and Antonio(Brenda) Scott both of Columbus, MS, and Michael Scott of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren: Orlando Smith, Antonio Scott, Jr., Jazmyn Scott, and Brendan Tate all of Columbus, MS; great- grandchildren, Kharmen Smith and Orlando Smith, Jr. both of Columbus, MS; one sister, Bertha Bryant of Columbus, MS; sisters-in-law: Eveline Jones, Nettie Dora, Carrie Clay, Sarah Brown, and Martha Lagrone all of Columbus, MS; brothers-in-law: Charlie C. Jones, Bert (Irmajean) Jones and Robert B. Jones all of Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
