Obituary

Isaac Turner, Sr., cherished by all as "Uncle Book" and a man whose life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, and hard work, peacefully departed this life on February 13, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Born on March 31, 1934, in Crawford, MS, to the late Tom and Lucy Whitlock Turner, Issac's journey was marked by unwavering devotion and a deep love for those around him.

From an early age, Isaac confessed his hope in Christ and became a devoted member of St. James M.B. Church. His unwavering faith was a cornerstone of his life, often expressed through song as he praised God alongside his brothers in "The Turner Brothers Gospel" group, blessing many with their harmonious voices.

A man of great diligence and skill, Issac dedicated 46 years of his life to Beneke, from which he proudly retired. Beyond his primary employment, he shared his talents as a barber, serving his community with a steady hand and a friendly smile. "Uncle Book" also possessed a gentle spirit and a green thumb, finding immense joy tending to his beloved garden, a testament to his nurturing nature.

Isaac was a loving father, devoted grandfather, caring brother, beloved uncle, and steadfast friend. His presence brought warmth, guidance, and joy to many, and his legacy of dedication, kindness, and faith will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Tom and Lucy Whitlock Turner; his children, Annie Bell Webber, Rebecca Ann Turner, and Isaac Turner, Jr. He also joins in eternal rest his siblings: Katie Dell Foster, Robert Wilkins Sr., Tommy Turner, Willie Turner, Jerry Turner, Silas Turner, James Turner, Sam Turner, John Henry Turner, Mary Ella Turner, T.C. Turner, and George Turner, Sr.

Isaac's memory will be forever cherished by his loving children: Clark W. (Joyce) Turner and Victoria Turner-Cunningham, both of Columbus, MS, and Teneasa (Darrell) Turner-Cunningham of Houston; one son-in-law, Willie Webber and one daughter-in-law, Mary Turner both of Columbus, MS. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will miss his presence dearly.
