Jamelvion
Jenkins
April 8, 2005 – May 19, 2025
JaMelvion La'Dohnte' Jenkins on April 8, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS was blessed to Melvin and LaDonna Jenkins their third son. This son was born with his Father's face and his mother's big bright eyes. Because of the dual resemblance the proud parents named him JAMELVION LADOHNTE' JENKINS, affectionally known as "JAMEL".
JAMEL was a devoted son and brother who enjoyed spending time with his family and a bright and promising young person, with a kind soul. He was known for his humor, compassion, and determination to excel in everything he did.
JAMEL was raised in Macon, MS. His parents laid the foundation for his relationship with Christ at an early age. He became a member of St. Mark Church of Holiness in Macon, MS. His Love for Christ was instilled in him by his mother. It was there he developed his own personal relationship with Christ seeking intimacy through prayer daily and establishing his rock-solid faith and trust in Christ.
JAMEL received his formal education in the Noxubee County School district. He attended Earl Nash Elementary, BF Liddell Middle School and Noxubee County High School where he excelled in FBLA and won 1st place in Marketing and design at State level for the State of Mississippi. JAMEL was an extraordinary Tenor Saxophonist in the Marching Band. He received many awards and received band scholarships from EMCC and University of West Alabama. JAMEL chose to follow his father's footsteps and started his college education at EMCC majoring in NURSING. JAMEL dreams were to further his education to become a Doctor, come back home and provide exceptional healthcare in his hometown. JAMEL's dream ended in his first semester of college when his illness began.
After a 19-month battle with Leukemia which included becoming cancer free and ringing the bell, he was told his cancer was back and there was nothing else that could be done. JAMEL showed his courage, faith and strength and told his parents I fought for you both like I promised I'm ready to rest with the LORD and don't cry for me I'm OK. JAMEL peacefully passed away on May 19, 2025, at 7:30am at Children of Mississippi in Jackson, Mississippi with his mother, father and partner Tyler by side.
JAMEL was preceded in death by his 3 siblings LaBrodric De'Sean, Kirah Chenay and DeAnna LaChelle. His paternal grandparents Mr & Mrs Floyd and Glady Jenkins his God-Sister/Cousin Brianna RaChelle and other relatives.
