Jasmine Elise Betts was born on January 19, 1999 in Lowndes County, MS to Ms. Iris Betts and Mr. Derek Lathan. She departed this life on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the age of 24.

She confessed hope in Christ at an early age, where she attended church at Anderson Grove M.B. Church and then God's Anointed People Ministries. She attended Caledonia Schools and ICC College. She worked at MTD in Verona, MS and was currently working at Systems Automotive Interiors in Mantachie, MS.

She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Gracie Lee Betts and Helene Lathan; grandfathers, Willie Lee Moore and Paul Lathan; two uncles, Jesse Willie Moore and Michael Lathan; one aunt, Earlean Kidd.

Her beautiful life will be forever cherished by her loved ones: her mother, Ms. Iris Betts of Columbus, MS; father, Derek Lathan (Beverly Smith) of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Joshua Betts of Yukon, OK and Devin Lathan of Chicago, IL; one sister, Connie (Peter) Lathan of Chicago, IL. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
