Obituary

Jennie was born to Willie and Nellie Smith on May 4, 1929, in Columbus. MS.

She attended school and accepted Christ at a young age and was a lifelong member at Tenth Street Fairlawn M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Smith, Rev. James Granderson, and now Rev. Juvante T. Burks, Sr. She was faithful member of the usher board until her illness. Jennie married the late Jimmie Lee Robson in 1948 and to this union one daughter, Doris, was born. Later in life, she blessed with three other daughters: Joyce, Emily and Vivian.

Jennie Loved meeting and talking to people. No one was a stranger to her. She was a woman who had a social life that was active and glam to the end. Jennie touched so many lives around her. She also enjoyed entertaining with others, traveling, and dressing. Jennie's number one love was her family. She took great joy in being her children and grandchildren's number one fan.

Jennie transitioned from earthly to heavenly life on August 30, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandson: Diawee Morris, her brothers: Joe Fenton and Willie Smith; her sisters: Sally Mae Staples, Mattie Williams, and Marie Chandler.

Jennie's memories will forever be cherished by: her daughters: Doris (Clifton) McSwine of Elmhurst, IL; Joyce Smith of Point Richmond CA; Emily Bankhead of Columbus, MS,  and Vivian Mabry of Elmhurst, IL; her brother, James (Ruth) Smith of Chicago, IL and Annie Mae Smith of Columbus, MS; 4 grandchildren, Clifton IV McSwine of Elmhurst, IL, Kahlil Richey of Berwyn, IL, Kimberly (Sean) Flanigan of Sunrise, FL and Rashad McSwine of Elmhurst, IL; 2 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will always remember and cherish.
