Jimmie Lee
Harris
May 8, 1936 – December 31, 2025
Jimmie Lee Harris was born on May 8, 1936, in Macon, MS, to Dock and Elizabeth Harris. He was a dedicated member of the Pleasant Grove Full Gospel Baptist Church where he remained a faithful deacon until God called him home. Jimmie was a former employee of Sanderson Plumbing, Arrow Fencing Company, The City Of Columbus, and Airline Manufacturing.
Jimmie was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life Dorothy Jean Harris, on December 3, 1964. Although Jimmie's health was beginning to fail, his faith never wavered. He was determined to keep doing this thing called "life" as long as God allowed him to do so. Giving up was never an option for him. His goal was to live a life that was pleasing in the eyesight of God and he did just that.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roosevelt Harris, 3 sisters, Sylvia Jones, Christine Smith, and Hattie Stewart; bonus daughter, Katina Harris, and an honorary granddaughter, Monshale Harris Pippins.
He leaves behind to forever cherish his memories: eight amazing children; Ruby Rice, Lonzell (Chekita) Harris, Perry (Cathy) Harris, Taffuya Harris, Shanettria Harris, WC Jones, Roy Jones, Theodis (Lenora) Williams; an honorary daughter, Renea Stevenson; 16 grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Adams and Susie Whitfield, three brothers, Willie C. (Inez) Harris, Tommie C. (Annie) Harris, and William (Johnnie) Harris. Jimmie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Deacon Jimmie Lee Harris' life and legacy will continue to live on through his family. According to 2 Corinthians 5:8 , "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". We will miss you dearly, but we take comfort in knowing that you are finally taking your rest.
