Joe Lee Murry, Jr., a beloved father, brother and friend, passed away on February 22, 2026, at the age of 70. He was born on February 3, 1956, in Brooksville, MS to the parents of Dorothy and Joe Lee Murry, Sr.

Joe did not meet a stranger. His endless jokes and joyful spirit were contagious. Joe had a natural gift for making people laugh. He had a passion for working with his hands and was known as a skilled mechanic in his earlier years. Joe also enjoyed relaxing with a drink, sharing laughs, and making memories with the people he loved.

On January 1, 1984, Joe married Ida Shields. From their union, they were blessed with four children: Joe Shields, Marcus Shields, A. Panesha Shields, and Brandon Shields.

In 2019, Joe confessed his hope in Christ and was baptized, declaring his faith. He became a member of A Prepared Table Ministries, where he remained until his passing. Joe will be remembered for his big heart, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother, father, three brothers, and one sister. He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Joe (Pier) Shields, Marcus (Tamica) Shields, A. Panesha Shields of Columbus, MS, and Brandon (Sheldon) Williams of Richmond, TX; 14 grand and eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Lillie Brown of Kitchener, Canada, Josie Murry, Annie Buckhalter of Columbus, MS, Dorothy Murry, Sandra Saxton of Toronto, Ohio, and Johnny B. Murry of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
