Coleman, Sr.
September 10, 1955 – December 2, 2024
John L. Coleman, the beloved son of George McGee and Sarah Coleman began his journey on September 10, 1955 in Crawford, MS.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Brown Ridge M.B. Church in Crawford, MS. Later in life, he became a member of Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist Church in Crawford, MS under the leadership of Bishop Bobby L. McCarter, Sr. He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Pearl Coleman on October 4, 1980. They were married for 44 years.
John L. Coleman embraced life as an energetic, fun, humorous person who had a passion for drag racing, spending time with family and hanging with the shop guys. He was a diehard fan of the Boston Celtics, Miami Dolphins and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He was employed with Phillips Redi-Mix for 20 years and also MMC Material, Inc. where he retired after 28 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George McGee and Sarah Coleman; siblings, Willie Earl Coleman, Willie Ollie Coleman, James Spruill, Emma Brown, Sam McGee, Sarah Durant, Maggie Sanders, Annie McGee, George McGee, Jr. and Jimmie McGee, Sr.; brother-in-law, Darrell Snell.
He leaves to cherish his loving devoted wife, Pearl Coleman of Artesia, MS; children, Shekita (Antwain) Armstead and Brittany (Ellic) Lucious of Artesia, MS, John Lavarr Coleman of Dallas, TX; step-son, Antonio Snell of Artesia, MS; siblings, Willie James (Lisa) Coleman of Starkville, MS, Christine Coleman of Artesia, MS, Helen (Sellers) Talley of Crawford, MS, Arthur McGee, Sr. of Artesia, MS, Laura Hairston and Melissa Phillips of Columbus, MS, Sammie McGee and Willie (Sidney) McGee of St. Louis, MO, bonus sister, Amelia Sykes of Columbus, MS; five grandchildren, Shykia Jamison of Fort Smith, AR, Ceniyah Jamison, Addison Tate, Abella Armstead, and Eden Lucious of Artesia, MS; God-daughters, Tonya (Leroy) Watt of Starkville, MS, Christina (Shawn) Young of Artesia, MS; Godson, Caleb Nevills; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mitchell (Shenill) Snell of Flint, MI, Mattie James, Mamie Johnson, Marie Snell of Artesia, MS; God sister-in-law, Hattie (Willie) Sanders of Artesia, MS. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
