Jovonn Terrell Selvie was born on April 29, 1976, to the union of JT and Dorothy Selvie. He confessed Christ at an early age at Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Bobby McCarter. Jovonn received his education from the West Lowndes Schools. He graduated from West Lowndes High School in 1995. He furthered his education at East Mississippi Community College and obtained his certification in welding. Jovonn's career in welding spanned over several locations including Columbus Fabric, Ellis Steel, and Navistar.

Jovonn, also known as "J.T.", enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for reading and mechanics. He loved his dog, Suga Mama.

J.T. departed this life on October 1, 2023 in Columbus, MS.

Jovonn leaves to cherish his precious memories: his parents, JT and Dorothy Selvie of Columbus, MS; his children: Teaira Lashay Selvie, J.T. Selvie II, Jasmine Teauna Selvie, and Jumarcus Tyshawn Selvie, all of Columbus, MS; his brothers: Patrick Johnson of West Point, MS, Montreal Johnson (Latoya) of Slidell, LA, and Mark Selvie (Ebony) of Loganville, GA; his sister, Corretta Jackson (Kevin) of Columbus, MS; four grandchildren: Tyshon Travez Spencer, Jr., Taylor Nicole Spencer, Kendall Selvie, and Jumarcus Tyshawn Selvie, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
