Katie M. Washington Hairston, 55, died Dec. 26, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Mrs. Hairston was born June 7, 1968, in Uniontown, to the late Johnnie Washington and Iola Washington. She was formerly employed by Southern Hearts Homecare Agency and was a member of Bible Way Progressive Church of God in Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Candy Washington and Johnny Washington Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Hairston of Columbus; children, Shamila Lassiter, Jasmine Green, Shamika Hairston, Samantha Woodrick and Tyuanna Deanes, all of Columbus; siblings, Joann Washington, Dixie Washington, Patrice Washington and Charlotte Pasley, all of Uniontown, Aaron Washington and Rachael Washington, both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Diane Robinson of Huntsiville, Alabama; and eight grandchildren.
