Obituary

Lasaundra Monique Cotton, a beacon of love and strength, was born on September 16, 1987, in Columbus, Mississippi, to her devoted parents, Larry Allen Nance, Jr. and Andrea Cotton. Her life was a testament to the profound roles she embraced – a loving mother, cherished daughter, doting grandmother, supportive sister, and loyal friend.

Monique journey of learning began at Columbus High School, where she laid the foundation for her future endeavors. She further enriched her mind and skills by attending East Mississippi Community College and Bevil State Community College, demonstrating her commitment to personal growth and development.

Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence. She found solace and community first at New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church and later continued her faithful walk at United Faith Interdenominational Ministries, where she was a beloved member.

Throughout her professional career, Lasaundra touched many lives with her dedication and compassion. She contributed her talents to Columbus Air Force Base at the Magnolia Inn and the Bowling Alley, provided nurturing care at nursing homes such as Trinity Home Place and Vineyard Court, and served her community at Walmart. Most recently, she extended her helping hand through her work in Home Health, embodying her innate desire to care for others.

Monique peacefully passed way on June 9, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - GT.

Monique was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Flora Cotton Stewart, Earlie James Toney, and Larry Nance, and her aunt, Cora Nance, who now welcome her into eternal rest.

Her vibrant spirit and cherished memories will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She is survived by her loving parents, Larry A. Nance Jr. and Andrea Cotton both of Columbus, MS; her adoring children, Jahmyah Jones and Peirre Beard, Jr. both of Columbus, MS; her grandmother, Jacquline Nance of Columbus, MS; her devoted siblings, Danielle Cotton, Kemarra Cotton, Shiquita Cotton, Terrance Cotton, Quinton Cotton, all of Columbus, MS, and Larry Nance, III of Starkville, MS. She also leaves behind her precious grandson, Legend Moody of Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Lasaundra Monique Cotton's legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
