Obituary

The beautiful Leavester Stanton was born October 6, 1956, in Macon, MS. to the loving parents of Jordan Cheatham and Bessie C. Cheatham. She departed from her life entered eternal life at Baptist Memorial Hospital on October 28, 2025. She was the 5th born child of her siblings.

She left Mississippi at an early age, immediately after she graduated from high school. She moved to Detroit, MI with one of her favorite cousins, the late Annie Degraffenreid. There she met her husband, Mr. Perry Stanton.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the House of God, which is the Church of the Living God, the pillar and the ground of truth. She was the First Lady, and a member for 47 years. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Bishop Perry Stanton on September 7, 1976, together they raised four children, Shanita, Perry, Jr., Brian and Aaron.

She worked for Farmer Jacks for 28 years until her retirement.

She was a God fearing woman who wasn't a stranger to anyone that she came across. She was a peoples person and was loved by many. Her presence was immaculate and her heart was outstandingly pure. Her hobbies were cooking, shopping and being around family and friends, pouring love into all.

She is preceded in death by her father, a brother, Jordan Cheatham, Jr. and one sister, Alma Thomas

She leaves to cherish her memories to her loving husband, Bishop Perry D. Stanton, Sr; her mother, Ms. Bessie C. Cheatham; her children, Shanita "Shi" Stanton, Perry D. Stanton, Jr, Brian Stanton and Aaron Stanton all of Detroit, MI; her grandchildren, Christopher J. Denman, Austin J. Denman, Aajha Denman, Angel Denman, Brian Stanton, Jr., Bryce Stanton, Davery Stanton and Daylee Bridges; her siblings, Mattie Bush, Joyce R. Skinner, Elizabeth Cheatham, Jean (Donald) Smith, June Brown, and Ophina Cheatham, John (Mary) Cheatham, Julius Cheatham, James Cheatham, Harold (Katherine) Brown all of Macon, MS,  Elise Stanton, Regina Cheatham both of Columbus, MS and Robert (Katrina) Cheatham of Prentiss, MS; and a host other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
