"L.S." Johnson
June 3, 1945 – September 26, 2023
Mr. Lewis Sylvester "L.S." Johnson was born on June 3, 1945, in Lowndes County, Mississippi to David Sylvester Johnson and Louise Johnson. He confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Military Chapel United Methodist Church.
He served three years in the United States Army. He later met Katherine Stewart and they were united in holy matrimony on December 25, 1969. To this union two sons were born. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was a faithful employee as a grind operator at Beloit Manhattan where he later retired after 25 plus years of service.
He enjoyed being outside, tending to his garden, taking care of his lawn, sitting in his shop and riding his motorcycle with the Patriot Guard Riders.
On September 26, 2023, God called him home. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Louise Johnson; sister, Sarah Lee Thomas; brother, Bobby Johnson; nephew, Mack L. Thomas; mother-in-law, Morine Stewart; father-in-law, Calvin Stewart, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Annie L. Spann and Bettie G. Brown; brother-in-law, Arthur Armstrong.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 53 years Katherine Johnson; two sons, Cedric (Lakeisha) Johnson of Round Rock, Texas and Xaveria (Cynthia) Johnson of Conroe, Texas; sister, Willie C Jones of Baton Rouge, LA; two grandsons, Shemar Johnson and Avery Johnson; one great grandson; a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
